Week 1 Introduction

My name is Jade Valenti and this is my last semester at OU. So crazy to think that time has past so quickly! I will be graduating in December with a degree in management. I am not involved in many campus activities because of how much I work. I am currently a manager at the Chick-fil-A on Main Street next to Hobby Lobby! I love it very much there. I am hoping to one day own my own Chick-fil-A. I was born on August 22, 1992 so I actually celebrated my 22nd birthday today! I am currently living in Noble, Oklahoma. I get the privilege of living at my best friend's house with her family since my family is all the way in Houston. I was born in Tampa, Florida and moved around a lot when I was younger because my dad worked for Hyatt Hotels. I have lived in Tampa, Orlando, Dallas and Houston. I am a huge Harry Potter nerd and could watch it for hours. I think I might actually get a chance to go to Harry Potter world this year for the first time so I am extremely excited. This summer was actually one of the best summers of my life because I got to study abroad in Spain for four weeks. I lived in a small city that is a suburb of Madrid with the host family and got to take my Capstone! Spain was one of the most amazing experiences and I hope that I can go back one day. I miss my host family terribly already. Surprisingly, we were not taking Spanish classes over there so it was always really weird to the local people that we did not speak their language. One day I hope to learn Spanish and go back and speak it fluently to my host family.

  1. Harry Potter World is the best! I went with my sister a couple of years ago and it was everything I could have ever dreamed of! I'm so excited because my sister and I are going back this October for their Halloween festivities! But I am so jealous of you studying abroad! I've only really been in the USA and Canada and I'm so ready to get out and explore the world. Both of us only have this semester left, though, and then who knows! It was great meeting you!

  2. Wow, happy late birthday Jade! That's awesome that you're a manager at Chick-fil-a on main, I actually go there very often, haha. Also, that's really great that you're from Florida. My mom was actually born in Tampa and then moved shortly after, as well. Small world! I really hope you do get a chance to go to Harry Potter World because it's great. I'm not that big of a Harry Potter fan but my brother is and so when we went together he had a blast and I'm sure you would too! I really enjoyed your picture from on top of the Eiffel Tower. I am so jealous of everyone who has studied abroad because I want to so bad and everyone's pictures look so fantastic. I hope you have a great last semester!

  3. Being able to take your Capstone while in a foreign country sounds really exciting, Jade! Everything is an adventure when you are living overseas... and that would make Capstone an adventure too! Very cool! And did I know about you being a Harry Potter nerd? Since the Patil sisters are so important to the Harry Potter world, maybe you could somehow do a Storybook around them, where Parvati and Padma could be the storytellers, sharing stories from the supernatural world of the epics with their friends from Hogwarts? Anyway, that might be something to ponder as you being to create your new Storybook for this semester!

  4. It is incredible how living in a different culture can change a person's life so much. I think it expands our minds to new ideas and people. I hope you do get to go back and to see your host family. I think it is awesome that you got to have your capstone in a different country, especially one as culturally rich as Spain. It is very nice to meet you Jade!

  5. Happy belated birthday! Wow, you have lived in quite a few places! I did not realize that a Chick-fil-A could be owned by an individual person. Have you read all of the Harry Potter novels? I started reading them this summer and I got to the fourth and then I got too busy with school to keep up! I’m planning on picking it back up over christmas break! Did you only do your capstone in Spain? How cool!

  6. First off- I have to say, I love love love Chick-Fil-A and now that is my plan for lunch tomorrow.
I think it's awesome that you traveled to Spain this summer, my best friend went there the summer before and absolutely loved it.
I have been taking Spanish since middle school and I have to say, it's easier than some lead on. It's very similar to English in the sense of the way words sound. However, their grammar is very different from ours which can be tricky.
Congrats on graduating and good luck!

  7. Hi Jade! That's too bad that you lived in Spain for a month, but didn't speak Spanish. I'm sure you could have had several more great opportunities open up to you had you known it. Either way, living in Spain for a month has got to be pretty amazing! Good luck after graduating! I hope it's not too long before you own your Chick-fil-A!

  8. Jade, Spain sounds AMAZING! I bet you had the most amazing, memorable experience there. I got to study abroad in China this summer for four weeks, and it was the time of my life. I just think that study abroad gives you so much life experiences and such a culture shock! I also think it is so cool that you want to own your own chick-fil-a one day! It sure sounds like you are on your way to! Good luck with everything!

  9. Hi Jade, Happy super belated Birthday. i think it’s really cool that you got to do your capstone in a different country, that too in Spain. Spain looks like a really interesting country. And the great thing about your degree is that will help you when you own your own chic-fil-a. Other than that, it was greeting meeting you and I hope to be reading more of your stuff!

I absolutely love Chick Fil A and that is so cool that you are the manager there. You really keep busy! My mom wants to open up one as well! But since she would have to move, she is not sure yet. I hope you have a great rest of your semester! Good luck with graduation and all of your future endeavors.

  11. Hi Jade! Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! Time really has flown by here, hasn't it? Anyway, I love that you are a Harry Potter nerd too! I have read all of the books at least three times, not to mention the number of Harry Potter movie marathons I've watched! When I was younger, I would fall asleep watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone almost every night! That's awesome that you might get to go to Harry Potter world soon! I would love to go sometime soon!
That's so cool that you went to Spain to study abroad. I've been to Italy, but other than that I have not visited anywhere else in Europe. I'd love to go to Spain someday as well!

  12. OH wow that must have been so exciting to study abroad and fall in love with your host family and the city, what a great experience. Also, I think it is really neat that you are getting to live with your best friend and her family while attending college, I know that sometimes it is difficult to keep close friendships after high school. Harry Potter is so awesome and I remember reading all the books as a child and then again in high school, I find old things at my parents house from when I was a kid that were Harry Potter themed (the way things were before the movies started coming out). Anyways, good luck with your last semester!

It is scary to think about the future but it sure is exciting. As I saw your picture, I thought I must have seen you somewhere and after reading about you and where you work that definitely rings a bell! I love chik fil a! Also, I am quite jealous that you got to do the study abroad. I wish I did that during my college career, maybe sometime! Good luck!

  14. Hi Jade, nice to meet you! This is my last semester here at OU too! It is really scary to think that I will finally be graduating and having to either go to grad school or get a full time job. Your study abroad sounds like it was amazing! I got to travel to Spain for a few days and go to Barcelona, but I never got to see Madrid. Going to Harry Potter world sounds like so much fun! I hope you have a great semester! Good luck with graduation!

  16. Hi Jade. That is amazing that you were able to do your capstone while in Spain. I studied briefly in Italy this summer but I plan to go back to Europe following graduation. I also am a huge Harry Potter nerd and have read all of the books and seen all of the movies multiple times. My entire family has been to Harry Potter world without me so I am still waiting to make it that way. I hope all is going well with your last semester.

  17. Hello Jade it is great to meet you. Spain? Wow, I bet that was amazing. Your pic is from Paris, and from reading your introduction it seems like you have been very blessed to have the opportunity to travel. Congrats on this being your final semester at OU. I know what it is like to finally be at the end of this journey, so I know that you are sad a little it is over, but so happy at the same time it is over. Good luck in your future career, I hope you get the chance to own a Chic-fil-A

  18. Hey Jade, nice to meet you. My Parents are also involved in the hotel business too! It must have been crazy moving around a lot while you were younger, however I'm sure you gained some really valuable experience because of it. That's so cool that you already are a manager of a chic-fil-a, and know that you want to own one some day. I wish you the best of luck!

  19. Hi Jade, nice to make your e-quaintance. I think that's so awesome that you were able to travel to Spain to study abroad. Travelling is something I hope to do a lot of in my life whenever my finances and schedule allow. I plan to travel to Japan after I graduate to work as an assistant language teacher in the JET (Japan Exchange & Teaching) Program. Good luck with the rest of your semester!
